30 November 2011 : The Hervey Bay 100
Triathlon Queensland is delighted to announce the sanctioning of a brand new event on the calendar
THE HERVEY BAY 100
This event will take place along the Scarness foreshore. This is a long course event featuring a 2km ocean swim (2laps of 1km each) with the transition area located at Scarness. The bike course of 80km will consist of 4x20km laps along the same course as the Hervey Bay Olympic Distance Triathlon and the final leg will be a spectacular 18km run along the esplanade made up of 3 laps of 6km.
All this adds up to 100km absolute oceanfront racing on one of Australia's most picturesque courses.
Hervey Bay has long been a hub of triathlon in Queensland with many talented junior and age group triathletes to its name. It is great to see Hervey Bay Tri Club now starting to emerge and to offer events of this calibre along with it's recently succeddful Col Pearce Memorial Corporate Tri. .
Another feather in the cap for the Hervey Bay Triathlon Club is the fact that the Race Director for the event is Phil Hungerford of the Run Inn Events who brings you other great races such as The Bribie Island Triathlon Series, The Wivenhoe Dam Triathlon, Rainbow Beach Triathlon and Toorbul Triathlon. Phil's vast experience in triathlons and event management combined with the dedication and enthusiasm of the Hervey Bay Triathlon Club will ensure that this event will be one to remember.
