9 March 2010 : Tre-X Race 4 this weekend (Mar 13/14) POSTPONED
With the recent weather conditions in Qld we have been monitoring the course and the weather forecast for this week leading up to the Salomon Tre-X Champs and the In 2 Adventure Weekend Dirt Fest. Unfortunately the weather forecast for the forthcoming week has changed from a prediction of Sunny days all this week forecast on Friday the 5th, to a week of showers and storms leading up to the weekend of the 13th & 14th.
After a course inspection on Friday the course and property were in good condition and we felt that with sunny days this week that the course would be in good condition for the Salomon Tre-X Champs and the Dirt Fest Weekend events, however with the change in forecast the course will not have the expected opportunity to drain and dry out so we have made the very difficult decision to implement our Wet Weather Contingency Plans and reschedule the Dirt Fest Weekend & Salomon Tre-X Champs to Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th of April, 2010.
The Course Familiarisation will also be rescheduled to Saturday 20th of March.
Why have we made this decision?
At In 2 Adventure you all know we love an adventure and enjoy a bit of mud at our events, however, this love of adventure also needs to be considered against environmental considerations and participant enjoyment.
When we started our business we made a commitment to operate by our guiding principles of Participation-Environment-Community. And made a commitment that these principles wouldn’t just be words we say, but principles that guide our decision making.
This decision has been a difficult one, impacting on finances, logistics & workload, however, we have made the decision based on the interest of participants, our partners and the principles outlined above.
Running the weekend events on the course in its current condition would cause a considerable environmental impact over the period of the weekend and would also impact on participant enjoyment. We are keen to uphold our environmental policy, to protect the environment and the property for future use and to ensure participants have a great time at our events.
Unfortunately, predicting the future is difficult and it’s possible this week could turn out to be rain free, however, we have chosen to make this decision now, based on the best information we have available to minimise the impact on participants and our partners.
We understand that the decision to reschedule the event may prove disappointing for some (and for us) however, we hope that you will understand that we have not made this decision lightly and have made the decision in the best interest of participants.
