27 October 2008 : TQ Aquathlon Champs - swim & run = fun

The Triathlon Queensland Aquathlon Championships was a great success with 182 competitors
taking the challenge and competing on Saturday morning.  The youngest competitor was a 6
year old from Norman Park and the eldest Markus Hanley 76 from the Sunshine Coast Triathlon
Club.

Ashleigh Gentle (2x Silver medallist at Junior World Championships) placed 1st overall closely followed
by Kym Jaenke (World Champion in W30-34 age category).  The mens field was won by Reece Heald
followed by Steve O'Brien.

Mini Kids - 9 athletes | Sprint Aquathlon - 50 athletes | Full Aquathlon - 123 athletes

Magic weather made the event even more enjoyable with athletes completing a course of
Run/Swim/Run.  The festive atmosphere made it an enjoyable event for all.  It is great to have
found a home for our Aquathlon championships.
